The school was founded in 1995 and it bears the name of Late Pramila Roychoudhuri, wife of Late Manomohan Roychoudhuri, a great teacher, mathematician, philanthropist who was instrumental in spreading education, founded schools for girls and donated abundantly to many educational institutions. His worthy daughter-in-law Smt. Gouri Roychouduri, MA(Eng & Phil) B.T. an ex-renowned teacher and headmistress and educationist followed his footsteps and established this school for spread of proper english education, which is much of a necessity under present day environment. Very high quality education and various extra-curricular activities are provided in this school.
In 1995 a charitable trust was formed and was named 'Pramila Memorial Education Trust'. It consisted of retired and eminent teachers and professors who had dedicated their lives to impart education. The motto of the trust was to uplift Pramila Memorial Advanced School, a small unit then, into a fully fledged recognized English Medium High School.
The school is now an English Medium co-educational institute. It received 'No Objection Certificate' from the Government of West Bengal in September, 2005. In September, 2006 the school received affiliation from the Council of Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi up to secondary stage (Class X). In December 2010 the Council has granted permission to open I.S.C. (Class X) with three streams, Science, Arts & Commerce. Now the school is affiliated to C.I.S.C.E. (I.C.S.E. & I.S.C.).
The school is spread over a vast area with natural surroundings of green and gardens away from bustling crowds, free from sound pollution and traffic disturbances. Besides airy classrooms the school has a huge library with a collection of 10000 books, well equipped labs, a huge playground where there is a badminton court, a basketball court and a volleyball court; a swimming pool project is in the scheme. The teachers are highly qualified and convent educated and come from respectable background and is dedicated to service. Other than in-house teachers, experts are there in all subjects who put their valuable suggestions for the betterment of the curriculum and this facilitates the students to a great extent.
